A Garlean refugee who fled from the Capital through Bluefog and into Ul'dah, he's only a recent resident of Empyreum, leaving behind the oppressive heat of the deserts of Thanalan for more familiar climes. Despite having only spent the better part of one summer in Ishgard, Leon has already made something of a name for himself--thanks to a fateful mission that saw him fighting for his life alongside one of Ishgard's own Temple Knight Commanders. Owing in large part to the friendship he forged with the Commander, Leon has landed himself a job (and a home) at the Luvese Estate, where he works as the local repairman and can be spotted as a frequent combatant in The Fury's Hallow arena.

magically inept - Common - Not only can he not cast magic, but he also doesn't trust it. Call it a hold over of his upbringing. Considering how often he needs healed, you'd think he'd get used to it, but magic of all kinds still makes him nervous.tinkerer - Common - From a young age, Leon was learning how to repair and build Magitek. This knowledge transfers well to just about any technological needs Eorzea's got.zoophobia - Uncommon - It's embarrassing, but listen. They didn't have Chocobos in Garlemald. You won't catch him dead on chocobo back unless it's for a damn good reason, and you better be ready to deal with 6 fulms of panicking Garlean if that happens.a reckless wrecking ball - Uncommon - Prior to coming to Eorzea, Leon was deeply ingrained in the Garlean military. He knows everything there is to know about it--from the military structure to their tactics to the intricacies of warmachina.royal fuck up - Very Rare - Leon's Garlean royalty. He is not forthcoming with this information, and only a handful of his closest allies know. Garleans who were intimately acquainted with the royal family might recognize him--but T did him a lot of good, and he doesn't look much like the Leona wir Galvus your average scholar might find in their history books.

Hey there, I'm Des, a 30+ fandom old who's been playing FFXIV since 2.0. They/he, please.I'm pretty chill with most things, but communication is key. I'm not my character and my character isn't me. Leon's a bit of a hothead at the best of times, and extremely reluctant to get truly close to others, so don't take it personally--although if offense is caused, please DM me.I firmly believe in a separation of character and player, fiction and reality. Exploration of themes is not endorsement of those themes IRL. Fictional events are not comparable to real life tragedies. If you disagree, we will not get along.Leon is a Garlean character and as such deals with themes of war, military upbringing, propaganda, and oppression. He also has themes of parental abuse, generational trauma, PTSD, and drug abuse.I like paragraph style RP both in game and in Discord. If you have me on Discord already, you're welcome to DM me.I'm not comfortable with one-on-one RPing with people who are under 21. I am also not interested in eRP (unless we've got a plot going that backs it up). Otherwise, send me a DM in game or in Discord to chat about plots!

Magitek Prosthesis
Leon lost his left arm at the shoulder during the first war of succession in Garlemald, immediately following Solus' death. As with many of his more prominent scars, the injury resulting in the eventual amputation came at the hands of Zenos yae Galvus--the cousins were always a little too rough with each other.
The medical procedure to remove the arm was performed by Ysera, who's guilt at seeing Leon at his most vulnerable lead him to helping in the eventual construction of the magitek prosthesis Leon uses today.Construction
Leon's magitek arm attaches to his body through a magitek port which was grafted into his shoulder. Even without the arm attached, his shoulder is prominent for the existence of the port--he cannot remove it, obviously. The skin around the port is scarred, although not notably; Ysera is good at what he does.
Through a combination of aether control provided by Ysera and bio-engineering knowledge Leon gained during his brief stint at the Magitek Academy (as well as a reckless willingness to put himself through any and all testing), Leon has managed to create a prototype which allows him to control and move the magitek arm as he would an organic one.Variations
Leon currently has three models of prosthetic that he uses:
- Garlond Ironworks - his first version, created using Garlond steel and scavenged magitek components. The arm is highly technical, with a great range of motion, fine motor skills, and high responsiveness; however, it is very fragile. This arm was destroyed by the Blasphemy during Commilities, and Leon has yet to recreate it.

- Skysteel Manufactory - his current go-to, this arm was built after he officially moved into Luvese Manor and began doing commission work for the Manufactory. Stephanivien provided the supplies and technology, and Temple Knight healers (and perhaps Robyn) helped with the aetherology necessary to connect it to his body. Although sturdier than the Garlond variety, it has a reduced range of motion and lacks fine motor skills (he could not button the top button of a shirt, for example).

Steel prosthetic - this arm is the most basic prosthetic he owns, and it does not connect to the magitek port, instead using a more traditional system of a harness and clever mechanisms to allow a very rudimentary range of motion. Its primary purpose is to fill out a sleeve more than anything else. (No equivalent mod exists, at least until the writer decides to make one themselves...)Limitations
While Leon's prosthetic arms allow him a variety of abilities, they come at a cost--any damage done to the inner workings of the prosthetics hurts like hell on account of the fact it's jacked right into his central nervous system. Improperly removing the arm, such as ripping it off or having it bitten in two by a Blasphemy, sets his nerves alight with pain and stuns him for a time as his body goes into shock.
Repeated damage of this nature is dangerous, and could result in complete loss of what feeling he retains in his left shoulder, which would severely limit his ability to control a prosthetic in the first place. Yet despite repeated warnings to be careful, Leon continues to find himself in situations where the prosthetic is violently torn away. However, so long as the wiring inside is not abruptly severed, Leon does not feel any sensation in the arm. This can be beneficial when using the arm as a shield--something the Skysteel make is particularly good for.Shielding Capabilities
Recently, Leon has worked with Porsche to install magitek shielding capabilities into the newest model of his prosthetic developed after Leon's clash with Shri'ke's darkside. For all intents and purposes, this allows him to use the defensive abilities one might expect of a tank class, albeit with a magitek spin rather than aetherial manipulation. These shields are limited by the ceruleum powercells that are stored in his arm--once the battery has run out, so to speak, he can no longer create these force-fields.

have i recently developed a propensity to push people away

Ysera Senya, Partner Roommate - The unfortunate medic who ended up with Leon collapsed at his front door when the Garlean first came to Ul'dah, Ysera hasn't been able to figure out how to get Leon out of his house since not that he really wants to. When Leon moved to Ishgard, it was only a matter of a few moons before Ysera followed--because "someone has to keep you out of trouble," after all. If you ask Leon their relationship, he'll tell you they're Roommates; Ysera, on the other hand, will turn ten shades of red and call Leon an idiot.Someone should really help them out one of these days.

Shri'ke Lanius, best friend and housemate - When Leon first came to Ishgard, he picked up a mission from the Temple Knights to scout out a missing contingent. Lanius was the Knight assigned to the job. Despite their clashing ideals, the two forged a lasting bond when their mission went drastically wrong, forcing them into a fight for their lives against a Blasphemy. Through sheer luck or, as Shri'ke might say, the will of the Fury, they survived their encounter--and became close friends and comrades as a result.Cauterizing a man's gaping stomach wound with a piece of sheet metal and a lighter will do that.

Brahndr Llosgi, ex-bodyguard and friend - Leon and Brahndr's relationship is confusing at best; the men clearly have a long history together, but neither are very forthcoming with the specifics. In truth, Brahndr was Leon's bodyguard in the Imperial Palace--a history that, for obvious reasons, the pair remain vague about. While recent summers have seen them butting heads, they're currently operating in something of a truce as they work to navigate what life looks like away from Garlemald.Regardless of any apparent conflict between them, they're both fiercely loyal to the other, and Leon trusts Brahndr wholly and implicitly.

Porsche Cato - bartender of the Fury's Hallow. Leon and Porsche hit it off quite quickly thanks to a shared love of Garlean cuisine and magitek. Porsche is kind of his dad, now.

L'tajha Jidha - more a sister than a friend, Tajha and Leon have known each other since their early days in Garlemald. Always quick to jump right into trouble with him, they cause problems for Brahndr on a regular basis.

Robyn Luvese - despite living in his home for nearly a full summer, Leon has only recently begun getting close to the Bard. Leon has him to thank for scraping him off the floor when Ysera gets tired of doing it.

Rook - What they are to each other is still a work in progress, but at least no one is trying to eat the other's organs any more. For now.
