As with many Garleans, Leon's training started at a young age in preparation for eventually fighting in the Imperial army. Leon has been formally trained in firearms, magitek weaponry, and the gunblade (in a Garlean style). Nowadays, he makes his own weapons and fights with either an axe or magitek gauntlets that he created. He only rarely fights with a gunblade, and is always armed with a pistol stashed somewhere on his person.

✦ㅤㅤThird EyeㅤLeon's Garlean third eye makes him a crackshot with a pistol and an exceptionally good hand-to-hand combatant. Enhanced spatial awareness and years of magitek training mean he's able to pick up just about any gun and take to it with ease.

✦ㅤMagitek ShieldingLeon has a small arsenal of magitek force fields and shields he can generate from his magitek prosthetic. They require ceruleum power cells, so they're limited in use, but they can deflect projectiles or block a blow with ease.

The first born of her half of the family, she was the niece of Nerva yae Galvus, granddaughter of Titus yae Galvus, and great-granddaughter of Solus zos Galvus.Leona was born a small, sullen child, prone to fits and ill tempers. Resistant to the teachings of her tutors, the only topic which consistently interested her was magitek engineering—a topic her mother specialized in. It is thanks to Brahndr she was able to put a name to the feelings of discomfort in her own skin, and it is under his guidance she began to flourish (not without headaches for the Hrothgar, of course).

With the help of Brahndr and L'tajha, Leonius' adolescence slowly took form into a tolerable—if still largely undesirable—cadence. It was during this time that Leonius began to refer to himself as Leonius, a change which was accepted slowly in the royal family and court. However, after several summers of stubborn insistence on Leonius' part—as well as a general disinterest in arguing the matter with him—those close to Leonius began to refer to him as such. (Formal records, however, still have him listed as Leona, daughter of Amalthea wir Galvus; this has since worked out in his favor, he thinks, as it has aided in his never being discovered for who he really is.)Leonius' adolescene mirrored that of many Garlean teenagers, despite his royal family name. A strong focus on military training, both physical and strategic, saw many of his days spent with trainers and teachers who despaired at Leonius' lackadaisical approach to his studies. Magitek was the only topic which interested him, aside from combat, which he excelled in, and he devoted himself primarily to strength training and gunblade training as a release for his pent up restless energy.It was through such training that he developed a rivalry with his cousin, Zenos, who's closeness in age meant that the two Galvuses were often paired for spars and practice sessions. While at first this rivalry mirrored that of many growing teenagers, things escalated to a dangerous tipping point when, in the heat of a duel, Zenos slashed through Leonius' left side, mere ilms from severing his spine. To this day, this scar remains one of Leonius' most prominent.Had things continued on their course, Leonius would have very likely deployed at Ala Mhigo or Bozja to join in one of Garlemald's primary warfronts as a face of the Imperial royal family. However, in the year 1577, shortly after the Calamity Emperor Solus zos Galvus died, failing to name a formal successor to the throne beforehand. This led to chaos in the Imperial Capital as both halves of the royal family went to war for the throne, with Titus and the Ist Legion squaring off against Varis and Zenos and the XIVth. As the grandson of Titus yae Galvus, Leonius was forced to join the warfront.This war waged for several long moons, ending only when Varis yae Galvus defeated Titus and routed Nerva, thus putting an end to the dispute. In the war, Cassius was also slain, and Leonius badly injured. According to all formal records and public knowledge, Leona wir Galvus died from (his) injuries alongside (his) father.But such was not the case.

Seeing the chaos of the first War of Succession in Garlemald as an opportunity, Leonius sought to flee his homeland. Aided by both his uncle Nerva, who felt he owed Leonius for his loyalty during the war, and a medicus who Leon befriended on the warfront, the royal heir's death was formally announced and Leonius was given the opportunity to sneak aboard a ceruleum transport vessel that was bound for Bluefog. With this move, he shed his previous identity, formally taking his new name: Leon Blackwood.However, the injury Leon sustained at Zenos' hands during their final confrontation of the war was beginning to take its toll, and by the time that Leon reached Ul'dah, he was near delirious with infection and pain.It is by good fortune, then, that the man his uncle had paid to sneak Leon upon the transport vessel knew of a band of Garlean refugees who had taken up residence in Ul'dah. He delivered Leon to Drusilla's doorstep as promised and then left, washing his hands of the situation and sidling Drusilla with a half-dead royal she was meant now to keep alive. Perhaps she likes hard luck cases, for she took to the task, and employed a healer who had worked with the Lemures several times: Toska Rikho.Leon's injuries were extensive, and his healing a prolonged affair. Despite Toska's best efforts, he was forced to amputate Leon's left arm at the shoulder to save him from the infection that had killed a majority of his arm and threatened to spread throughout his body. When Leon awoke to find what had happened, he was thrown into a bout of depression so deep it took everything Toska had to stop the younger man from drinking himself to death.Leon (and Toska) would find a reprieve from this when word of Garlond Ironworks would reach Leon's ears, giving him the spark of inspiration he needed. After negotiating through Drusilla, he was able to get his hands on magitek technology with a somewhat steady supply, allowing him to begin development of what he considered to be the solution to his problems: a magitek prosthesis.Magitek prosthesis were not unheard of in Garlemald, and Leon had exposure to the concept through his many years of studying Magitek in his free time. So when he gained access to the necessary supplies, he dedicated himself to the creation of a prosthesis that would allow him to fight and function as he had prior to the incident. With Toska's help (and a healthy dose of trial and error coupled with a lack of care whether he harmed himself or not), Leon was able to create a prosthesis that grafted into a port they installed in his shoulder and allowed him to move the limb as if it were his own.((There will be more here someday! Leon's present days are considerably more peaceful than recent summers. He works at The Fury's Hallow, where he has a close group of friends (and family). He focuses on renovations and personal projects around the manor, and sometime in the summer, he'll be suddenly quite preoccupied with a new addition to the manor's family.After a lifetime of fighting, Leon has mostly hung up his blade and now is only rarely convinced to participate in friendly duels. Instead, he seems content to watch the adventurers, warriors, and knights who come through the Hallow's doors.

In addition to working on staff at the Fury's Hallow, Leon is the building's resident repairman. He keeps the place running, repairs the damage patrons do during their matches, and is the reason it's got heat that runs all the way to the top floor. While he's an expert at Magitek (for obvious reasons), he's also generally good with all kinds of engineering. Characters who hear of his expertise in this matter and are in need of a mechanic are free to approach; likewise, his most obvious example of his body of work is his prosthetic left arm, which many combatants in The Fury's Hallow will have seen before.

Although he tried to keep to himself--mostly out of fear of being identified--other members of the Lemures may have run into Leon within the Lemure Headquarters.He is more likely to have interacted openly with non-Garlean members or associates of the Lemures.

Members of the IIIrd legion likely would have known of him, even if he had not met them personally. He had a reputation as the brash, reckless, obstinate royal who couldn't take an order, but who fought with a viciousness bordering on inhuman to protect his allies. Whether or not he made a good impression is up for debate.

That's perfectly fine, and I fully expect that. What I also expect is common decency, because I am a human being behind the character.
